Mayoral candidate Mike Shepherd (Councilman, District 5) is looking for
Bremerton citizens interested in serving on an independent committee to
study and recommend changes to Bremerton utility taxes.
“I’ve heard from many of my neighbors regarding their concerns with the increasing utility taxes and I think this is an area where more citizen involvement is needed. I want to work to structure the utility taxes in a more equitable way, so they don’t have such a huge impact on our neighbors living on small incomes,” Shepherd said.
My years of experience in environmental work, my previous appointment to
resolve the Bremerton sewer treatment operational problems before I was
elected to the Bremerton City Council and my training and experience as a professional manager have uniquely prepared me to address the complex problems
currently facing the residents of Bremerton, he said.
Bremerton citizens from different economic situations are welcomed to
apply to be on the new committee. Please include a short description of
your interest and ability to volunteer for several hours per month.
