The donation of a home from Sunwest Bank will serve as the inaugural project for a Neighborhood Revitalization by Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County in 2015.
Kitsap County was originally established in 1857 and has many older neighborhoods in need of repair, which would benefit from the Neighborhood Revitalization (NR). This initiative is meant as a complement to the Habitat for Humanity mission to build homes with low-income families by allowing Habitat to remodel and revitalize older homes, bringing them up to modern energy efficiency standards and giving older neighborhoods a clean, refreshed look without the need to demolish and rebuild existing homes.
The purpose of NR is to provide older, struggling neighborhoods with safe, decent and affordable housing and to improve the quality of life for the residents of those neighborhoods as well as provide much needed home maintenance and repairs.
The dedication of the home will take place at 137 N. Montgomery Ave in Bremerton, with city officials, Sunwest Bank representatives, and Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County staff and board members in attendance at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 4.
Interested members of the public are welcome to attend.
