The Slab opens in Suquamish

You can now grab a slice and soda at The Slab, a new pizza joint in Suquamish.

“The name of the restaurant is named after what the community used to call the basketball courts in Suquamish. It was a local gathering spot for all sorts of activities,” owner Drew Bateman said.

The Slab opened June 10 but has been growing in popularity as the community continues to open up after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The menu consists of classic pizzas such as Meat Lovers, Hawaiian and Veggie as well as some specialties like Taco and Cheeseburger.

“My personal favorite is the Broccoli, Bacon, Cheddar and Onion, although the Cheeseburger pizza is great when I’m craving an In and Out style burger,” Bateman said.

The pizzas are all New York style (read large slices) and made either with house-made dough or a gluten-free option. Customers can either order a 14-inch on either crust pie or just a slice of their favorite (house-made crust only) along with a side salad.

The Slab also has a unique selection of sodas that might bring up some nostalgic memories, such as Dad’s Root Beer and Coco Fizz Chocolate Soda!

Bateman hopes that The Slab will fill the pizza void in Suquamish since a popular restaurant closed in 2017.

“Ultimately, we want to be consistent and fill a void that the area has been missing since Bella Luna left the area, and give back to the community and local schools as well once we get established,” Bateman said.
