Robbery

A Burwell Street resident called police at 1:01 a.m. May 22 to report a robbery at her neighbor’s residence. The caller said she called police after hearing her neighbor, a man, screaming about a robbery. An officer came to the scene and interviewed the victim, who said three men had knocked on the back door of his residence. When the victim answered the door, the suspects informed him he was being robbed. The victim at first believed it was a joke, but the suspects shoved him into his bedroom and began punching him. The victim said the suspects made out with his laptop computer as well as a 19-inch television, totaling $2,000 in value. The suspects fled in a vehicle described by the victim as “large, silver and boxlike, with a 1990s build.” The victim sustained injuries to his eye and head. The responding officer took photographs and lifted fingerprints from the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

Drug paraphernalia

At 9:32 p.m. Ma 21, a police officer stopped a vehicle on Charleston Beach Road at Highway 304 for failing to dim its high-beams. The driver had an unpaid ticket and was arrested for driving with a suspended license. After arresting the man the officer conducted a routine check of the vehicle and found a multicolored glass pipe and a cigarette box containing 10 Seroquel 100 RX pills. The officer asked the passenger who the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to. The passenger said everything belonged to the driver. The driver denied the claim about the pills but admitted he had smoked marijuana in the car earlier that day. He was arrested and booked into Kitsap County jail on $50,000 bail.

Theft

A Safeway employee called police at 11:31 p.m. May 21, reporting a customer had fled the store after trying to steal malt liquor valued at $22.17. The employee said the suspect had put three four-packs of Tilt Green malt liquor in a black backpack. After being confronted, the suspect went to the restroom and unloaded the goods. When the suspect emerged from the restroom, the employee informed him that law enforcement was en route.
