Music of all kinds provides the backdrop to our lives, whether we deliberately choose a piece to listen to, or we suddenly find our feet tapping along to that background music in the mall.

Through endless arrangements of notes and tones, music conveys every emotion in the spectrum. Everyone knows the lilting, magical beginning to the Harry Potter theme, or the dramatic beginning to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony — music creates mood through sound, and can transport us to different worlds and times.

While music is always available, live music is an experience that transcends any other listening medium. Live music takes on a life of its own, especially in its symphonic form — there is just no better way to experience music and it’s something we’ve missed over COVID.

From classical to jazz — and more!

As things return to a more normal rhythm, and live performances that bring music to life are a reality once more, the Bremerton WestSound Symphony is pleased to be back in full swing.

Bremerton WestSound Symphony’s 2021-22 concert series began with a triumphant fanfare on Oct. 10 with a special, double-concert program featuring the full orchestra and special-guest ,jazz-vocalist, Eugenie Jones.

The celebration continued with a Nov. 7 concert that exemplified the freedoms we all enjoy with its vibrant Flamenco and Gypsy rhythms, evoking images of a freer time that invited the feet to tap!

Ringing in the Christmas season, the Nov. 28 concert heralded the joy of the upcoming holidays with the Bach Wedding Cantata and Advent Celebration held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Ann Jacobs, Media Manager, notes that “the last concert was so well received — everyone was happy and delighted as they made their way home!”
