South Kitsap High had eight boys at the 3A state tourney over the weekend at the Tacoma Dome, including state wrestling champions in Stone Hartford at 120 pounds and Mitchell Neiner at 126 pounds.
Phil Chobot was third at 182 pounds, Ben Laws fourth at 160 pounds and Vincent Nabors sixth at 132 pounds.
Hartford pinned Dylan Dalgord of Union in just two seconds remaining in the match at 5 minutes, 58 seconds. He also won matches by scores of 11-3 and 9-0 and had a first-round pin in 1:08.
Neiner won the title match over Joshua Neiwert of Gonzaga Prep by a close 3-2 decision. He also won matches by two technical falls with scores of 19-3 and 22-7 and a major decision by a score of 12-1.
Chobot won his final match 11-6 over Eli Perkes of Hanford. His other wins were by pins in 1:35, 2:20 and 2:23. His only loss was a 5-1 decision.
Laws lost his final match 4-1 to Noah Holman of Gonzaga Prep. He also started the tourney with a 14-3 loss. In between, he won by pins in 1:26 and 4:24, by a medical forfeit and by an 8-0 major decision. Nabors took a similar route, getting pinned in the final in 3:24 by Jordan Tobias of Chiawana and losing 4-0 in the first round. In between, he won by falls in 4:25 and 3:26 and by a 3-1 decision. He also lost a 10-1 major decision.
At 126 pounds, Chase Eaglin won a major decision 10-0 but did not place. At 220 pounds, Jontae McHenry won by pin in 36 seconds but did not place. Neither did teammate David Young at the same weight.
For the girls, Monica Kaiser was sixth at state at 140 pounds, losing by injury default in her last two matches. Before that, she won by pins in 3:33 and 3:21 before losing 10-0. Rosemary Brooks wrestled at 115 pounds but did not place
Bremerton
Five wrestlers from Bremerton placed at the 2A state meet. Lars Michaelson at 170 pounds and Thor Michaelson at 160 pounds won state wrestling titles.
Lars won by technical fall 25-10 over Zakaria Hammou of North Kitsap in his final. He also won by a 13-0 major decision, along with pins in 1:24 and 1:30. Thor won by a 5-2 decision in his final over Westin Triplett of Enumclaw. He pinned his first foe in 1:22, won by major decision 22-9 and won by technical fall 20-4.
Diego Clemen was fifth at 152 pounds winning by scores of 16-11 and pins in 1:17 and 5:05. But he was pinned in 5:23 and lost a 4-2 decision. Roiel Sorenson was eighth at 170 pounds. He was pinned in his last match in 2:05, and also lost close matches 4-3 and 7-6. But he won two matches by pin in 4:11 and 4:00.
At 145 pounds, Danny Wakonabo won a match and Brennan Galloway also wrestled at that weight but neither placed. Logan Nickels won a match at 126 pounds, as did Tanner Urrutia as 106 pounds, but neither placed.
For the girls, Grace Leota was fourth at 155 pounds. She lost her last match 6-5 to Aynslee Hester of Mount Si. She won six other matches, however, with pins in 32 and 55 seconds, two others in 4:15 and 3:59, and by 6-3 and 3-0 decisions. She had one other loss, being pinned in 2:47.
Central Kitsap
Two from Central Kitsap wrestlers placed at the state 3A meet.
For the girls, Savannah Sinclair of CK placed fourth. She lost the match for third to Azalea Fetters of Curtis 4-2. She also won 14-3, by pin in 2:53, by pin in 2:20, lost 13-10 and won a 12-3 decision.
At 126 pounds, Quentin Lawrence placed seventh. He won his final match 13-3 over Cole Valdez of Oak Harbor. He won his other two matches by pin in 1:39 and by a tight 2-1 decision. He also lost matches by scores of 14-8 and 13-2.
Both Conrad Bellon and Carter Chadwick wrestled at 120 pounds but neither placed, although Bellon won a 3-0 decision.
