Poulsbo paint business hosts art market Saturdays

Glenn Prosser is holding an arts and craft market in Poulsbo every Saturday morning in his business’s large parking lot to showcase local artists.

“I have a great big parking lot that’s doing nothing, and I’m into art,” he said. “It would be similar to the farmers market in Poulsbo but I want to focus mainly on arts and crafts.”

The owner of Prosser Painting & Construction, he moved his business from Foss Road to the more centrally located Viking Avenue in November.

The arts and craft market began this month and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Prosser said he is starting to receive steady interest, especially considering he is offering free booth space for artists. One of the artists is Prosser himself, who said he recently got back into metal sculptures and abstract paintings after taking a long hiatus. Additionally, he wants to include an art gallery in his business office.

“I’ve got a number of pieces on the premises here,” he said. “Around 1987, I was going to move down to California to be a professional artist, and it didn’t work out. I quit art until just a few years ago.”

Aside from the market, Prosser said the new space has much more room than before, allowing them to get a bigger powder coating oven and to increase painting, deck installation and home remodeling capabilities. He said the business is going to start making custom neon signs for personal and business use.

His business has been around since 1993, serving all of Kitsap County. It offers painting, deck installation and repair, deck staining and refinishing, interior and exterior home remodeling, and powder coating.
