Top seed North Kitsap won the District 2/3 2A Baseball Tournament at Central Kitsap Saturday with an 11-5 win over Steilacoom in the semifinal and 7-6 victory over Fife in the championship game.

Steilacoom was seeded fifth and Fife sixth.

As a result, the Vikings advance to state with regional games May 21 with a possibility of going to the semifinals and finals May 27-28 in Yakima.

The Vikings easily handled eighth-seed Highline at home last week in the first round 10-0. The game ended in the bottom of the sixth due to the 10-run rule.

NK probably should have 10-runned the Pirates earlier in the game. But the Vikings left a number of runners on base, and Highline made two diving catches to keep them in the game.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Zach Edwards led off with an infield single and went to third on a double by Cole Edwards. Colton Bower hit a towering sacrifice fly for an RBI.

NK pitcher Noah Sorensen struck out two Pirates in the second before the home team came up and scored three more.

Sorenson was hit by a pitch. After a stolen base and passed ball, the Vikings scored on an error. Ethan Gillespie then hit a single to right. Jaxson Gore smacked another RBI single to right to make it 4-0. With the bases loaded, Bower smashed a line drive to left. It was hooking away from the leftfielder, but he made a diving catch to save three runs.

Sorenson struck out two more in the third, and NK scored a run to make it 5-0. Dalton Brockett led off with a single to center. The Vikings added the run on a steal and two passed balls. After a walk, NK left its fifth runner on base when the Pirate second baseman made a diving sno-cone catch in short rightfield.

In the fourth, Sorenson struck out the side, but also walked two. The Vikings threatened in their half with a one-out hit by pitch, a single by Cole Edwards and a walk. But the Pirates got the other two outs, leaving three more runners stranded.

The Vikings scored two more in the bottom of the fifth then ended it in the sixth when Cole Edwards singled to right, Gore smacked a sacrifice fly, Bower was hit by a pitch, there was an error, Sorenson hit an RBI single, there was another hit batter, and Gillespie drove in the 10th run with just one out.

Kingston

In a must-win game, 13th seeded Kingston surprised 12th seed Evergreen of Seattle 4-1 Tuesday.

But the Bucs season ended Wednesday after falling to fourth-seed White River 16-1.
