Vikings boys tennis earns shutout win over buccaneers
On Monday the inter-district boys tennis teams met up on the North Kitsap High courts, and the Vikings swung their way to a shutout 7-0 victory.
No. 1 singles: Zach Fohn defeated Jerol Bird, 6-1, 6-1; No. 2 singles: Rex Olsen defeated Nick Anderson, 6-2, 6-2; No. 3 singles: David Gerstenberger defeated Sam Shoemaker, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3; No. 1 doubles: Jordan Seth, Conner Gallagher defeated Cody Combs, Loren Klemsrud, 6-1, 6-0; No. 2 doubles: Shaun McBurney, Alex Olsen defeated Josh Arara, Austin Dennis, 6-3, 6-3; No. 3 doubles: Zach Turley, Sebastian Ford defeated Nathan Hirsh, Cameron Groh, 6-0, 6-1; and No. 4 doubles: Chris Gracey, Steven Breitmayer defeated Brady Sunquist, Eric Reichert, 6-1, 6-3, 10-7.
On Wednesday the Vikings away match against North Mason was canceled because of rain. On Friday the Vikes hosted Klahowya, and Kingston traveled to Bremerton. Results of the matches weren’t available at press time.
Buc volleyball
hits tough times
On Tuesday the Bucs hosted the Sequim Wolves and won one set, but lost the overall match.
Set 1, 25-22 Sequim; set 2, 25-14 Sequim; set 3, 25-21 Kingston; and set 4, 25-12 Sequim.

NK Volleyball keeps
up its winning ways
On Sept. 20 the Viking volleyball team traveled to a tournament in Yelm and won it all. The Vikes defeated Lincoln, 25-19, 21-25, 15-11; White Rock 25-21, 24-26, 15-13; and Kalama 23-25, 25-18, 15-11. In the playoffs the Vikes defeated Yelm, 25-8, 25-9; in the semi finals defeated Shelton, 23-25, 15-16, 15-4; and in the finals defeated Lincoln 34-32, 25-21.
“Everyone contributed in a positive way. I was impressed with how the girls would reach deep for some energy and focus when they felt tired and worn down,” head coach Tim French wrote in an e-mail. “They know how to battle.”
On Tuesday North hosted Port Angeles and won in three, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21
Sarah Baugh, 14 kills, 18 assists, and five digs; Taylor Ottomano, 11 kills; Lindsay Kocker, seven kills and five digs; and Haley Fidler 16 of 16 serving and four digs.
On Thursday North traveled to Bremerton and also won in three, 25-12, 25-9, 25-8.

On Friday the Vikings, 10-2, hosted Bainbridge, results of the match weren’t available at press time.

On Wednesday traveled to Port Townsend to run against PT and Port Angeles. Once again Kingston’s got the runners to beat.
Girls varsity results, three miles: first place, Ruby Roberts, 18 minutes, 14.47 seconds; second place, Marina Roberts, 18:27.15; third place, Rose Bishop, 18:50.69; seventh place, Chloe Stamper, 21:08.77; and eighth place, Megan Raney, 21:10.88.
Boys varsity results, three miles: fifth place, Justin Doud, 15:43.99; eighth place, Nick Schippers, 16:38.02; and ninth place Austin Cherry, 15:54.13.
Today the Bucs travel to the Tomahawk Invite in Marysville.

On Tuesday the Vikes hosted Port Angeles at the North Kitsap Stadium and kicked its way to a huge, 7-1 victory.

On Thursday the Bucs and the Vikings traveled to Olympic for a double-dual meet. Olympic defeated Kingston 118-31 and North defeated Olympic, 86-79.
Kingston results: Olympic placed first in all events.
North results: Stephanie Longmate qualified for state in 200 and 500-yard freestyle events, and the 400-free relay of Ingrid Reeves, Bethany Aban, Longmate and Sarah Waderich set a new school record, eclipsing the old record by 2 seconds.
