Alan Louis Francescutti, 77, passed away at home in Seattle on August 27th surrounded by loved ones after a long, heroic fight against cancer. He was born on August 19, 1945 in Champaign, Illinois to his parents, Julio and Marie Francescutti. Alan grew up in Santa Rosa, CA.
As a teenager, he developed an interest in photography and later enrolled at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. As a parting gesture to school, Alan submitted a favorite portrait to a contest for Northern California photographers. He received First Place, which was awarded by renowned photographer Imogen Cunningham!
Alan and his wife, Susan eventually moved to Edmonds, Washington with their son, Ryan. After a divorce, Alan moved to Bainbridge Island where he lived on board a small sailboat for several years. While living on B.I., Alan opened Madison Avenue Photo. These were wonderful years, working with a fantastic crew and enjoying a loyal and appreciative clientele. Alan was married to his second wife, Nancy, and his daughter Laura was born.
In addition to photography, Alan had a passion for music. He started playing the violin at age eight and continued throughout college. After many years away from playing he found a new opportunity on B.I. He joined a fledgling orchestra which eventually became the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra with whom Alan played for many years.
Not long after this, Alan became a member of the Blue Fish Tango Quartet. This unique quartet was together for 10 years. Through this, he was fortunate to meet the woman who would become his loving partner for the rest of his life, Patti.
Alan will be missed for many reasons, including his great cooking, love for entertaining, and witty sense of humor.
Alan is survived by his partner Patti Beasley, son and daughter-in-law Ryan & Chrisy (Simonson) Francescutti, granddaughters Julia and Sofia, daughter Laura Francescutti of South Carolina, sister Paula Ravani of Santa Rosa, Aunt Carole Green and cousins Kimberley Gibson (Chris) of Santa Rosa, Phillip Andreini of Martinez, and Marc Andreini of San Luis Obispo.
