Locally owned promotions company Crater Lane Productions has partnered with Port Orchard’s historic Dragonfly Cinema to bring stand-up comedy to Kitsap County.
Los Angeles-based comedian and Port Orchard native Leah Mansfield will headline the venue’s first stand up comedy show on Saturday, Sept. 21. She will perform alongside well-known Seattle comics Patrick Higgins, Kevin Addison, Richard Sugarbush and emcee Kiera Giordan.
“There’s no better way to kick off our inaugural comedy event at the Dragonfly then by bringing Leah up to perform,” said Matt Haver, Crater Lane executive producer and spokesman. “She’s been busy taking the LA comedy scene by storm and we’re lucky to get her.”
For many years Mansfield has been a household name in the vibrant Seattle comedy scene and has toured the United States. Mansfield competed in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas in 2010 and 2011 and has been invited to appear in the 2013 She-Devil Comedy Festival on Long Island.
She relocated from Seattle to comedy capitol Los Angeles to continue her successful career.
The Dragonfly Cinema will be her sole show in Port Orchard.
The historic venue on Bay Street has undergone several changes in ownership and title in past years, but new ownership and manager Tracey Robinson have given the Dragonfly a facelift, complete with new seating in both of the cinema’s 72 and 90-seat theaters, a sizeable stage in the west theater, and an updated lobby and concession area.
“The classic historical feel of the Dragonfly coupled with the size and intimacy of the theater is perfect for stand up comedy where audiences and performers alike enjoy a crowd that’s close and personal,” Haver said.
