For the first time this season, rain became a factor on the football field. However, North Kitsap was not affected by the wet conditions, defeating Sequim 54-6 Oct. 21.

Instead, NK used the rain to its advantage in all three aspects of the game. In the first quarter, the Viking defense forced a fumble and held Sequim to one first down.

In addition, NK blocked Sequim’s field goal attempt.

North Kitsap’s Carson Walsh marched the Vikings down the field with a few first-down runs. Running back Benen Lawler finished the job, earning a 7-yard rushing touchdown to make it 7-0.

In the second quarter, the rain slowed but NK didn’t, blocking Sequim’s punt. Cole Edwards began his air raid attack, throwing a 6-yard TD pass to Logan Sloman. Edwards added to his stat sheet with an 11-yard rushing score to make it 19-0.

After Sequim failed on downs at midfield, NK looked to put the mercy rule into effect in the second quarter. Jaxson Gore scored back-to-back TDs, including a time-expiring 43-yard catch where he broke four tackles before crossing the goal line.

NK took advantage of the rain coming to a halt in the third quarter. Sloman took the opening half kickoff for an 82-score.

Sloman added one more touchdown in the third.

Sequim ran out the clock in the fourth quarter, holding the ball for all 12 minutes. The Wolves scored with 24 seconds left. NK has now allowed just nine points in all of its Olympic League games this season.
