Charges were filed in Kitsap County Superior Court Nov. 17 regarding a crash that killed three people Aug. 16.
A 21-year-old New Jersey man is being held on $150,oo0 bail, charged with three counts of vehicular homicide.
Bremerton police and fire were dispatched to 2825 Wheaton Way. The vehicle was “crushed” after going airborne and hitting a building, witnesses said. When police arrived, about 20 people surrounded the vehicle, and some were trying to extricate a passenger.
A man who had been partially ejected was trapped in the car near the rear passenger door. That person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He later died.
Witnesses confirmed another man was the driver as they had pulled him from that seat. Due to his life-threatening injuries he was airlifted to Harborview. He was in satisfactory condition.
Two other passengers died at the scene.
Witnesses said the car passed them at a high rate of speed, estimated at 80 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone, went out of control and crashed.
On Aug. 24 the driver was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Palo Alto, CA. He has remained there as of Nov. 17.
Maximum penalty is life in prison and/or a $50,000 fine on each count.
