On August 28, 2022, Terry Lee Whitney passed away at the age of 78. Born to Myron and Shirley Whitney of Kingston, WA, Terry grew up in North Kitsap, graduating from NKHS in 1962. After some brief studies at Olympic College, Terry enlisted in the US Air Force where he would end up serving in London from 1965 to 1969. Always one to believe that you need to make the most of the opportunity, Terry used this time to travel throughout much of Europe. Of all the cities he visited, Florence, Italy, may have been his favorite. When he returned to Washington, Terry began work at Family Life Insurance company where he forged some of the closest friendships that he would carry through his life. He would continue to live and work in Kitsap County through the rest of his days due to both his love of the location and the people. Terry was well known for being social and friendly, it was as if there were no strangers to him, just friends he hadn’t met yet. His ashes were spread in Hood Canal, a view he truly loved, by his closest friend Diane and his son Bjorn.
