Fair winds and following seas to Kenneth James Brown, “Ken”, age 80, who passed away at Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, WA on 11 January, 2023.
Ken was born in San Diego, CA, on joined the Navy after high school, and served notably for over six years on active duty as a hospital corpsman during the Vietnam Conflict. The one sure way to make Ken smile was to call him “Doc”, the nickname commonly given to Navy Medical Sailors assigned to Marine Battalions.
After honorable discharge from Navy service, Ken continued his Nursing education and career, becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Ken eventually opened a clinic with his wife, Linda Pedersen, also a Nurse Practitioner. The clinic capably served a disadvantaged population in Port Hadlock, WA. Notably, Ken also served as medical staff at a correctional facility in Seattle, WA.
Ken and Linda lived for over 30 years in Poulsbo, Washington. Ken was preceded in death by his son Aaron, and his brothers Danny, Kirk, and Lee. Ken is survived by his wife Linda, their son Jason and wife Cate, their daughter Jill and husband Mario, his sister, Norma and their grandchildren, Daylee, Mickie, Kiara, Jazmin, and Julian.
A modest memorial service will be held for Ken @ 10:15 am on 11 February, 2023, at the Marina in Poulsbo, WA. Navy Funeral Honors will be rendered. Thank you to the staff at Franciscan Hospice House for the kindness, comfort, and care they provided during this difficult time.
