Lorna A. Young, former North Kitsap High School counselor, passed away January 27, 2023, at age 95. She was born Aug 22, 1927, in Provost, Alberta to Horace and Ruth Fleming, one of twins. She studied at several Canadian universities, earning her Master of Social Work from UBC where she met Daniel Young. After marriage they moved several times as Dan pursued advanced studies and his career. They moved with their 4 children to Poulsbo in 1967 shortly before Dan’s death. In 1969 Lorna became a counselor, serving NK’s Native American students and those in need and at-risk until her retirement. Lorna loved life, family, animals, nature, birds, kids, and culture of all kinds. She was an outdoor enthusiast, skier, hiker and extensive world traveler. Lorna is survived by 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Lorna’s life Friday April 14th, 3 pm, at the House of Awakened Culture, Suquamish, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please bring a memory to share.
