VOLUNTEER OMBUDSMEN NEEDED

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program needs volunteer advocates to work with the residents living in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult family homes. Volunteers are especially needed in Bremerton, Port Orchard and Bainbridge Island. An initial 30-hour training about long-term care systems and laws is provided and will be hosted soon in the Silverdale area.

HOME-BASED BUSINESS EXPO APPLICATIONS

The Silverdale Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Home-Based Business Expo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Costco Wholesale, located at 10000 Mickelberry Road. Applications are now being accepted.

As an organization dedicated to promoting and growing businesses, the Chamber is partnering with Costco to provide this opportunity for home-based business owners to market their products and services to a large consumer audience.

Home-based businesses represent more than half of all small businesses in the United States and are one of the fastest growing segments of the economy. The Silverdale Chamber is pleased to offer this event to members and non-members alike.

TRANSITION CLASSES

The Olympic College Women’s Program and College Success and the Washington State Life Transitions Program present Keys to College & Career: A Learning Community for People in Transition.

The six-week five-credit learning community assists people who have lost their source of financial support to become economically self-sufficient. The program provides classes and support to identify career or school options to transition to independence.

The classes meet twice per week beginning Monday, April 13 and continue through Thursday, May 21.
