Guest artist
Suzanne Burns is the Guest Artist at the Verksted Gallery in Poulsbo in May.
She works in paint, clay and stone. Her work is “figuratively abstract” with emphasis on creating a smile and an occasional deep thought.
“I have always worked in pencil, watercolor, oils and mixed media, but for the last ten years have taken these images to three dimensions in stone sculpture, using marble, alabaster and occasional soapstone,” she said.
Burns was a popular full-time artist in the gallery many years ago. She is known for her sweet bird paintings and considers birds to be at the heart of her work. “They literally fly onto the canvas, and peek out of the stones that I carve. They are my messengers.”
The gallery is located at 18937 Front St. 360-697-4470. Open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
