Just like everybody in Kingston, we try to fit in everything we do outdoors when the weather is nice — and boy, it has been nice.
Well, another Fourth of July in Kingston is under our belt, and the wonderful weather helped make this celebration of the country’s birthday even better than usual.
As July 4 quickly approaches, our Kiwanis club is busy helping Kingston have another successful 4th of July celebration.
One of our most popular projects is to award our outstanding students in North Kitsap a scholarship to reward them for their good work — not just as students, but as helpers in their community.
Spring is here and before you know it, school kids will be out on their summer vacation.
The fifth Valentine’s Day Gala in support of the North Kitsap Boys and Girls Club was a huge success, once again due to the generosity of the Kingston community and other folks from around the Puget Sound area and the hard work of all the volunteers that helped Judy and Dick Osborn pull it off again.
The Greater Kingston Kiwanis Club had a very successful 2012, and 2013 will even be better.
Well, the Mustang has changed hands and the happy winner is Diane Lungaard from Kingston. She is a local music teacher and piano teacher of one of our prominent members, Dave Wetter.

February may be a quiet month for most groups, but the Greater Kingston Kiwanis is just rolling along.
I missed the deadline for the January edition of the Kingston Community News, but one of the things I wanted to share with the community is the great kids we have in our Key Club at Kingston High School.
Late summer and early fall has been a busy and fun time for our Kiwanis Club. Because of the generosity of friends from all over the area and neighbors in town and the S’Klallam Tribe, our Mustang Raffle was the most successful to date. This will allow us to add to our scholarship fund, support the Boys and Girls Club, and support youngsters and seniors throughout the greater Kingston community.
I spent last month in Southern Illinois and, believe me, I will never complain about our weather again. The 100-degree heat, with a heat index of 120 degrees, made me look forward to “cedar sweat” at home.
Summer just started and Judy Osborn has already collected 319 toys and 127 books for our Christmas toy drive. Her goal is 500 toys and we are well on the way to meeting it.
As we are getting snippets of spring weather, our club is getting excited about getting outside and helping kids, elders…
