North Kitsap’s wooded corners have become lodging for residents lacking a roof over their heads, as homeless campsites come and go.

You can smoke ’em if you got ’em, but you won’t be buying marijuana within the city limits of Poulsbo. The Poulsbo City Council voted unanimously to ban recreational marijuana businesses, and medical marijuana operations within city limits.
It was an annual check-in between two governments that largely occupy the same territory. While one represents the city, and the other, Poulsbo’s port, the two organizations could not deny that they face the same enemy: time.
The question as to when, or if, the City of Poulsbo would sell a valuable piece of downtown real estate has been answered: a Bainbridge Island businessman has purchased the former city hall property. “The main idea is a hotel,” said Michael Burns, who purchased the property from the city in early June.
American Cruise Lines has added Poulsbo to its current schedule of Puget Sound stops.
“Catfish Moon” shows Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. The play will continue until June 22 at the theater located at 225 Iverson St., Poulsbo.

The Kustom Kulture Festival came to North Kitsap on May 31 and June 1. Live music was provided by 19 bands, ranging from rockabilly to outlaw country. More than 250 classic cars showed up, along with more than 200 motorcycles. Organizers estimate that more than 3,000 people attended the festival this year.
Poulsbo’s old city hall, vacant since November 2010, may have a buyer. “We have sold the old city hall property to a gentleman on Bainbridge Island for $1.2 million,” Mayor Becky Erickson said June 4. “It’s a contingency sale. We have to perform certain things and he has to perform certain things, but we have every expectation that the (property) is being sold.”
Poulsbo’s City Council may be presented with another approach to codifying recreational marijuana within the city — banning it.
The Kitsap Public Utility District has signed a contract with a Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc to assess and fix its pilot public Wi-Fi networks in Poulsbo and on Bainbridge Island.
