Precision Collision Auto Body has something other collision centers don’t — financing.
“That’s unheard of,” Precision Collision spokesman Mark Lovell said. “I don’t know of any other collision centers in Washington state that are offering this service.”
Precision Collision Auto Body started offering financing for services about a month ago through GE’s Car Care One program.
Lovell said some people drive damaged vehicles because they can’t afford to pay for the repairs, putting themselves and other motorists at risk.
“There’s a huge safety issue,” he said.
Even though insurance companies pay for some vehicle repairs, some motorists cannot afford to pay the deductible. Precision Collision’s financing program is primarily focusing on funding the deductibles, according to Lovell.
He said about 50 percent of Precision Collision customers have opted for the financing program. People must first go through a quick credit check before being approved for financing.
“I’d say roughly half of the people that have been sent for approval have been approved,” Lovell said. “We’re not going to finance them right through the door.”
Lovell said the owners of Precision discussed the financing option for a long time and decided now was as good a time as any to help people pay for vehicle repairs.
“It’s just something that’s always been in our minds,” Lovell said. “As we’re growing, we’re always trying to be creative.”
Precision Collision Auto Body opened inside the former Budweiser plant near Auto Center Way three years ago. The staff do collision, paint and fiberglass repairs on a variety of vehicles including cars, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, boats and even dump trucks.
“But our bread and butter is the passenger cars, the normal cars,” Lovell said.
Vehicles are repaired and painted as quickly as possible at Precision Collision and each one is detailed before it leaves the shop.
Lovell said Precision sees a lot of customers who keep coming back because they’re happy with the service they receive.
Precision Collision Auto Body has been in business 24 years and now has 13 locations in Washington, the most of any American-owned collision center in the state.
“For a collision company to have 13 shops, that’s amazing I guess you’d say,” Lovell said.
