POULSBO — Beautifully Polished at Longworth Studio has expanded beyond name and space.
Owner Kerry Slone bought the two-story building on Anderson Parkway last year, remodeled it, and expanded Beautifully Polished onto 3,000 square feet on two floors.
The salon and spa’s menu of services now includes body exfoliation, detox wraps, facials, naturopathic skin care, manicures and pedicures, massage for couples and individuals, and reiki. Beautifully Polished uses handmade products for its detox wraps and exfoliation.
Beautifully Polished (www.longworthstudio.wordpress.com/about-2) is staffed by three aestheticians (body treatment, hand and foot treatments, and skin care) and two massage therapists.
Slone is a master nail technician. In addition, she is licensed to provide corrective skin care, including corrective peels, dermabrasion, and removal of broken capillaries and non-cancerous lesions, such as moles and cherry angiomas.
In addition, Physician Assistant Greg Pintor of Bel’Allure Aesthetics in Seattle is on retainer, providing cosmetic injection enhancement.
Another upcoming service: Prenatal massage therapy.
The salon was limited to manicures, pedicures and facials when it occupied only the 700-square-foot ground floor.
The expansion, as well as the location, has positioned Beautifully Polished for a variety of services. It offers makeup classes, clinics, parties, and custom packages for cruise lines and yacht clubs.
“We offered two makeup classes at Girls Night Out — 5:30 was so packed we had to turn people away. They had come back at 7,” Slone said. “We’ve definitely found a niche. We’re encouraging women to try things they haven’t tried before. Women told me they never would have tried that tangerine lipstick, but they went outside the box and it’s working.”
Slone is an adviser for the fashion merchandising program at Olympic College. And Beautifully Polished has been approved by the state to offer a paid nail technician apprenticeship program — one of four in the state to do so.
There are other touches that are uniquely Beautifully Polished. The second floor is elegant, light and airy, and treatment rooms have views of Liberty Bay. In the respite area, clients can relax and enjoy tea and the bay view in between services.
Treatment rooms are painted a blue color the staff created by mixing two favorite nail polish colors: OPI Holland Collection’s whimsically named “I Don’t Give a Rotterdam” and “I Have a Herring Problem.”
“We’ve had at least a 30 percent increase in business since the expansion,” Slone said.
“Expansion was absolutely critical. Before, we were not able to do any of these things. And not just service variety, but the footprint, having the space. We’ve had private parties ask to rent our spa because it’s such a beautiful space up there.”
