OBE inducts two new members, announces
member of quarter
Olympic Business Exchange (OBE), a chapter of Business Network International (BNI), inducted two new members this past month. Lanelle Devlin and Jill Bradwell bring the membership total to 18 business professionals.
Devlin, who owns Handy Mom, will fill OBE’s “handyman” profession category and Bradwell, a commercial loan specialist at Kitsap Bank, fills its banker profession category. Only one person per profession is allowed to join OBE in order to maximize business referrals for each member, but OBE leaders can help match people with other BNI chapters if their profession category is already filled.
OBE recently selected Dr. Michael Wagner, owner of Upper Cervical Health Centers of America, as its member of the quarter for the months of January through March.
The OBE leadership team selects the member of the quarter based on participation within OBE, business passed to other OBE and BNI members, efforts to expand OBE membership, participation in continuing education programs and more.
OBE gathers every Thursday morning at Silverdale Beach Hotel to network and pass business referrals. All business professionals interested in increasing their business are encouraged to attend. Cox to succeed Weir as WSB Financial chair
WSB Financial Group, the parent company of Westsound Bank, recently announced that its Board of Directors has named Donald Cox Jr. to succeed Louis Weir as chairman. Weir decided not to stand for reelection and will retire from the board following the annual meeting May 28 when his term expires.
Cox was unanimously ap-proved as the new chairman by the Board of Directors. He is a principal of Cox & Lucy, a public accounting firm in Port Orchard, and of Pacific Asset Management LLC, a registered investment advisory firm with offices in Port Orchard and Kirkland, with $250 million of assets under management. Cox has been in private practice as an accountant since 1976 and is a certified public accountant and registered investment advisor. He was a founding director of The First National Bank of Port Orchard, which was purchased by InterWest Bancorp in 1997.
Cox graduated from Central Washington University and is a past president of the Port Orchard Rotary and a past president of the First Lutheran Church Council. He and his wife of 24 years have two grown children and live in Port Orchard.
Ashley Gardens caregivers continue education
Several staff members from Ashley Gardens of Bremerton recently completed certification in several continuing education categories.
Lisa Muntuuntu, Thelma Gomez and Johnny Pantouw completed CPR training and Kathleen Shaw completed first aid training.
Reuben Brooks, April Lopez, Jessica Bowen-Hatch, Tramell Clayton, Leticia Kullander, Victoria Thacker, Shelly Clayton and Jane Varner completed both CPR and first aid training.
Janet Presley, Shelly Clayton, Laura Perry, Evy Stafford and Crystal Kindred completed a 28-hour class, meeting the regulations set by Washington state for caregivers to earn the “Fundamentals of Care” distinction.
Staff members Carrie Mulcahy and Beth Dotson earned mental health specialty training, dementia specialty training and continuing education hours for attending the Washington state Alzheimer’s conference. Also earning continuing education credit for attending the Washington Alzheimer’s conference were Crystal Van Horn, Gloria Tomacder, Janet Presley and Shelly Clayton.
Beth Dotson completed her A+ Administrator training through the Washington Health Care Association.
