Puget Sound Energy customers invited to test new website
Puget Sound Energy customers can try and provide feedback on the utility’s new and improved website, PSE.com, before its expected April 18 launch. The upgraded website, which is currently available as a beta site at www.pse-pilot.com, has a new engine, easier to navigate content and a customer-friendly design. Improvements include: persistent PSE account sign-in box in the top right corner of every page; improved search functionality and persistent “I Want To …” menu on a new right navigation bar, which consolidates the top reasons people visit PSE.com, allowing visitors to quickly access the most common content from anywhere on the site and others.
Stewart to step down as KEDA executive director
Bill Stewart, executive director of the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance for three years, announced last week his intent to retire at the end of September.
“I have truly enjoyed my time managing KEDA, and I am committed to further strengthening it before my tenure ends,” Stewart said in a statement.
Stewart is credited with helping the organization make “great strides,” especially in keeping over $48 million in U.S. Navy and other government contract work from leaving Kitsap County in 2010, according to the statement. The organization regularly holds classes for local businesses to learn how to land contracts with the Navy and other government organizations.
The search for a new executive director will begin this summer and the organization hopes to complete the selection process prior to Stewart’s departure at the end of September.
Good Thursday event in Silverdale
Lisa Stirrett Glass Art Studio and Judy’s Junk and Java will show the work of local artists, business and organizations at 3656 Munson St., Silverdale, on April 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. In addition to art work, there will be food and music.
Bremerton Housing authority accepting applications for grants
Bremerton Housing Authority is accepting grant applications from local non-profit organizations to support low-income housing programs that provide housing or housing-related services.
These dollars are available as part of the funding the authority receives to redevelop the Westpark housing projects into Bay Vista. The first dollars will come with the completion of The Summit at Bay Vista this June, according to a statement.
The authority intends to award grants in the amount of $10,000 to each organization. Although the total amount will depend on the final cost to complete each phase, about $90,000 will be spent in 2011.
To apply, interested organizations can submit proof of their non profit status and a narrative not to exceed 500 words of how the money would be used to support local housing needs. Please submit the required information to PO Box 2189, Bremerton, WA 98310 Attn: Donation Request.
Bremerton Curves adds Zumba
Bremerton Curves is now offering a 30-minute exercise class that mixes Zumba with strength training.
Non-members are invited to try the fitness classes free for one week through April 30, 2011.
