Dan Looney, Desiree Vaughn and Russell Jones joined the Art Anderson Associates staff.
Looney is a mechanical engineer and retired Navy captain with more than 27 years of military service. He was most recently the 35th commanding officer of Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport. Looney will serve as a mechanical engineer and project manager for both facilities and marine projects at Art Anderson Associates as he pursues a professional engineering license.
Vaughn is a recent graduate of Utah State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in aerospace. As an entry-level mechanical engineer, she will be mentored by senior staff at Art Anderson Associates as she gains experience in the field.
Jones joins Art Anderson Associates as a naval architecture intern where he will gain valuable on-the-job experience as he pursues a degree in naval architecture from the University of New Orleans. Prior to enrolling in college, Jones was a chief engineer and first mate for Edison Chouest Offshore, a Louisiana-based offshore vessel service company. Russell will be mentored by the firm’s naval architects and marine engineers during the summer and will return to college next fall.

Senior VP named, board promotion announced at KCU
George Hall was named the new senior vice president/chief lending officer at Kitsap Credit Union.
Hall began his lending career in 1976 at Pacific First Federal in Tacoma working in loan servicing. After 32 years in the lending industry, he joins Kitsap Credit Union from Yakima Valley Credit Union where he served as the chief lending officer.
Hall’s primary goal with the credit union is to serve members, volunteers, the community and co-workers through sound business practices and upholding high ethical standards. His responsibilities will include maintaining and enhancing the credit union’s 75-year tradition of providing safe, sound and secure lending programs and services. Hall will place emphasis on enhancing member loyalty, reviewing loan products and services and ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.
The Kitsap Credit Union Board of Directors elected Patricia Dibert as the newest member to the supervisory committee. In 2007, Dibert retired with 30 years of credit union service in California including serving as the CEO at Pittsburg Employees Federal Credit Union. She and her husband, Paul, moved to Kitsap County that same year to be closer to children and grandchildren.
After completing a six-month training period, Dibert was officially appointed by the board in May.

Peoples Bank invests $35,000 in community
Peoples Bank recently made donations in support of local industry, education, the arts, environment and other charitable causes. In the first quarter of 2008, the bank contributed $35,000 to support local organizations and will continue to invest in the community throughout the year.
One organization Peoples Bank supported is the Lee Belas International Scholarship Foundation in Kitsap County with a donation of $500. The Lee Belas International Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization established in memory of Sergeant Lee A. Belas, who was killed in action in Iraq Feb. 27, 1991 at the age of 22 during the Gulf War. The volunteer seven-member Board of Directors meets twice yearly to administer the business of the foundation and award scholarships to District 5020 outbound exchange students.
DayTek opens in Bremerton
DayTek LLC, a computer support service, opened in Bremerton and offers a wide sphere of services designed to provide employees and owners of small businesses with the technical support they need to work efficiently in a computerized business environment.
DayTek focuses primarily on residential, home office and small business technical support. DayTek performs all services on-site and offers remote desktop services.
Percy Day owns the company and has network experience with the Army and Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority. Day also has extensive computer service support experience as a supervising signal systems support specialist in the Army and spent two years as a technical support agent and another two years in the cable installation industry with Comcast.

Kitsap Bank has solid
first half
Kitsap Bank achieved record assets of $810 million June 30, up $39 million year to date. Earnings continued to be good at $4.6 million for the first half of the year.
Kitsap Bank continued to experience solid deposit and loan growth for the first half. Loans grew $23 million, totaling $676 million on June 30. Deposits increased to $627 million, up $26 million for this year.
