Kitsap landscape designers win gold medal Landscape designers Kate Easton of Port Orchard and Megan Pulkkinen of Bremerton, won a gold medal for their garden entry at the 2011 Northwest Flower & Garden Show. They were co-designers of the garden with Lloyd Glasscock of Everett and Kirsten Lints of Duvall. Gold Medals are awarded for excellence in design, plant selection, construction and showmanship criteria.

Landscape designers Kate Easton of Port Orchard and Megan Pulkkinen of Bremerton, won a gold medal for their garden entry at the 2011 Northwest Flower & Garden Show. They were co-designers of the garden with Lloyd Glasscock of Everett and Kirsten Lints of Duvall.

Gold Medals are awarded for excellence in design, plant selection, construction and showmanship criteria.

The winning garden, “Cook’s Endeavor Returns with Treasure,” was inspired by the novel Stowaway by Karen Hesse, and illustrates Captain Cook’s first voyage with Sir Joseph Banks, renowned botanist who explored many Asian and South Pacific regions, according to a statement from the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association.

Moyer promoted at Kitsap Bank

Michelle Moyer was promoted as operations manager of Kitsap Bank’s Silverdale branch, the bank announced last week.

Moyer has been a banker for seven years, three of those with Kitsap Bank, according to a statement. She is a nearly lifelong resident of Kitsap County who is active in volunteer efforts and is the secretary of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Martha & Mary AT HOME receives ‘Best of Home Care’ award

Martha & Mary AT HOME has been recognized with Home Care Pulse’s “Best of Home Care” distinction, the home care program announced this week.

The recognition is given to the top 25 percent of agencies in client and employee satisfaction scores from Home Care Pulse, a company that measures home care quality nationwide.

New Poulsbo Women’s Diagnostic Center opens in April

Advanced Medical Imaging will open its newest Women’s Diagnostic Center in Poulsbo April 4 at 22180 Olympic College Way NW, Suite 100 in the Cascade View Medical Center. Appointments can now be scheduled for this location.

The center will offer services such as digital mammography and low dose bone density scans.

Edward Jones to host career open house in Silverdale

Financial services firm Edward Jones will host a career open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 9 at its Silverdale location.

The event aims to allow people to talk to Edward Jones financial advisers to learn more about career options at the firm. Edward Jones is seeking to expand its staff of financial advisers, according to a statement.

Mitchell named new loan servicing manager

Randy Mitchell is the new loan servicing manager at Kitsap Credit Union. Having gained financial regulatory experience with the Federal Deposit Insurance Commission, along with other financial institutions, Mitchell brings more than 20 years of experience to the position.

Department of Revenue offers free tax workshop in Bremerton

The state Department of Revenue’s Bremerton office is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners on from 9 to 11 a.m. March 10 at the Sheridan Park Community Center, Rooms B and C, 680 Lebo Blvd., in Bremerton.

Participants can learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. All receive a workbook and reference guide to state rules and regulations.
