Contain It helps people stay organized.
Some people just have a knack for organization.
For those who are not blessed with the organization bug, Denna Barnes is here to help.
Barnes, of Silverdale, opened Contain It shortly after she moved to Kitsap County last spring. Barnes said the office and home organization business has been open for a year and she is pleased with how things are going.
“It’s just kind of one of those just-try-it-and-see things and it’s actually worked out really well,” Barnes said.
Barnes previously lived in San Diego where she organized homes and offices for family and friends. She previously worked in real estate finance with investment firms and homebuilders and organized for friends and family on the side.
“It all stems from techniques that are learned,” Barnes said. “Some people are inherently well organized. I love it. I think it’s fun.”
Barnes later learned about the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and joined the group.
“I actually saw something about it on ‘Good Morning America’ or something and I started networking and talking to people about it,” Barnes said.
Barnes read numerous articles and took online seminars through NAPO and opened Contain It in Silverdale last May. Barnes can organize kitchen pantries, closets and entire homes throughout Kitsap County. She also helps clients with office organization and workflow processes. Contain It can provide assistance in planning events as well.
“People tend to have a really good idea of what they want and don’t know how to get from A to B,” Barnes said.
Barnes said home and office organization businesses save people time and money in the long run. Home and office organization also helps people stress less, according to Barnes.
“Sometimes when you’re disorganized you spend more time mentally worried about ‘oh I need to get to that,’” Barnes said. “Once they get one area under control, it frees up a little mental space. They spend a little less time worrying.”
Barnes said once she helps a client organize part of their home or office, he or she tends to stay organized.
“A lot of times, once they have an area organized it’ll extend to other areas,” Barnes said. “The more I work with somebody, the more hands-off I am.”
People searching for organization tips and tricks can visit NAPO’s Web site at www.NAPO.net.
“It’s not only for professional organizers, the public can go there as well and find lots of information and articles,” Barnes said. “They provide a ton of resources to us.”
