Dr. Saad K. Al-Agba has owned the property on Ridgetop Boulevard across from Levin Road for 13 years.
Now, Saad and his daughter, Dr. Niran Al-Agba, plan to open the new Silverdale Pediatrics there in just a few months.
The Al-Agbas opened Silverdale Pediatrics on Levin Road in 2002. Now the father-daughter duo watches as their new office space quickly takes shape on Ridgetop Boulevard.
Saad said the new Silverdale Pediatrics is scheduled to open at the end of June or beginning of July. He said builder Robert Baglio, of BJC Group, has really moved the project along.
“The builder is really good and not only is he on time, but he’s ahead of schedule,” Saad said. “He’s really good.”
Saad has been a doctor in Kitsap County for nearly 40 years. He used to be an owner of The Doctors Clinic and opened Silverdale Pediatrics with Niran when she finished medical school.
“We just sort of stuck together,” Saad said with a smile.
Niran said her father has always wanted to build his own office and with a little push from her, the two began jumping through the county paperwork hoops to make it happen.
“He’s always wanted to do it. It’s been kind of a pipeline dream,” Niran said.
Saad said it took two-and-a-half years to get the permits and prepare the land for construction, but Silverdale Pediatrics is finally starting to take shape.
“It’s really been a headache,” Saad said.
“I’m glad he didn’t know it was such a headache,” Niran said with a smile. “I’m so glad we did it.”
Saad said the Silverdale Pediatrics sign had been posted on the land for so long that passers-by could no longer read it. The Al-Agbas originally wanted to open the new facility in 2007.
“Tree branches were growing over our sign,” Saad laughed.
Saad said Silverdale Pediatrics will only occupy one 2,000-square-foot space inside the new building on Ridgetop Boulevard. Three other 2,000-square-foot spaces are for lease and he’s already talking with potential tenants.
Niran said they’ve outgrown their Levin Road office and designing their own building was a great opportunity.
“It’s a little more efficient for us,” she said. “It’s been designed by two pediatricians with pediatrics in mind.”
The Al-Agbas are even building a nursery beside Niran’s office for her 5-month-old son.
Saad said the new Silverdale Pediatrics will have more exam rooms and a procedure room, something the current office doesn’t have.
“We’re really excited. It’s going to be really neat,” he said.
Saad said he put retirement on hold when his daughter finished medical school and he was happy to do so.
“When she came along, I said, ‘What great fun!’” he said.
“It is a lot of fun,” Niran added with a smile.
Saad specializes in pediatric endocrinology and treats patients with thyroid and growth problems as well as diabetes.
“We also see a lot of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders,” Saad said.
“We kind of really like the behavior issues. That’s something we really enjoy,” Niran added.
With the building nearing completion, Niran said she and her father aren’t the only ones who are excited. Their patients are very excited to set foot in the new Silverdale Pediatrics as well.
Saad said he looks forward to practicing what he loves inside the new Silverdale Pediatrics come this summer.
“It’s a lot of fun. I don’t even consider it work,” he said.
