The Port Orchard Independent is looking for a reporter with photography and editing skills to work for its newspaper.

Kitsap News Group editor Steve Powell said applicants should have professional journalism experience, but recent college graduates also will be considered.

“We’d really like someone who lives in the greater Port Orchard area who cares about the community and wants to provide readers with balanced, accurate information,” Powell said, adding anyone living from Gig Harbor to Bremerton would qualify.

Applicants will be asked to cover all different types of news and feature stories, from city to schools, police to environment, health to business, and more.

The position is full-time with benefits. Pay depends on experience. Powell would like to fill the position by the first of September.
