PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap Credit Union was presented the Economic Development Champion Industry Award on March 25 by the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) at its annual meeting.
The special award was presented to the Kitsap lender and other top 2020 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) lenders that originated more than 100 loans to support companies within Kitsap County.
To date, Kitsap Credit Union has provided 385 SBA PPP loans, funding more than $16.3 million to area businesses, thereby saving 2,025 local jobs, according to the lending agency.
“Strong local businesses have always been at the core of Kitsap County’s prosperity,” said Shawn Gilfedder, CEO of Kitsap Credit Union.
“Our team stepped up and quickly implemented the programs and processes to facilitate the newly created PPP loans last year. This recognition reflects our employees’ hard work and commitment to our community, and I’m proud to share this honor with them.”
