SILVERDALE — Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest plans to hire approximately 200 new employees over the next four months for a variety of positions throughout Kitsap and surrounding counties, the command announced June 30.
The positions range from engineers and contract specialists to skilled trades such as maintenance mechanics, electricians, and utility system operators. These positions are located at Naval Base Kitsap — Bangor, Naval Base Kitsap — Bremerton, Naval Station Everett, and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
“We have many vacancies throughout the Puget Sound area that we are actively recruiting for,” Capt. Mark Geronime, commanding officer of NAVFAC Northwest, said in the hiring announcement. “This hiring effort is critical to our ability to execute our workload in support of the Navy’s mission over the next few years and is our top priority.”
NAVFAC Northwest builds and maintains facilities, and delivers utilities and services, for the U.S. Navy. Its area of responsibility encompasses all naval facilities in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming.
The NAVFAC Northwest team consists of more than 1,000 employees, with nearly 800 of them in Kitsap County.
Positions to be filled include: Architects, Civil Engineers, Community Planners, Contract Specialist’s, Electrical Engineers, Electricians, Engineering Technicians, Environmental Engineers, Information Technology Maintenance Mechanics, Mechanical Engineers, Motor Vehicle Operators, Utility System Operators, and a variety of administrative positions.
