Chiropractic Lifestyle Center open for business.

With Central Kitsap Commissioner Josh Brown bringing the giant scissors, Dr. Meg Simans and her husband, Ron, were ready to officially open their new business.

Meg and Ron hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, May 30 at the Chiropractic Lifestyle Center on Riddell Road in East Bremerton.

Meg has been a local chiropractor for 16 years and always dreamed of opening a natural healthcare facility such as the Chiropractic Lifestyle Center.

“This lifestyle center is a culmination of our vision,” Ron said.

The natural healthcare facility not only has two chiropractors and two massage practitioners, but also offers yoga and Tai Chi classes in the movement studio. Ron said he hopes to add acupuncture in the future.

“There’s room for growth,” he said. “As people get interested we’ll have more classes (in the movement studio) too.”

Chiropractic Lifestyle Center also has a dispensary where people can purchase natural health products and an outdoor herb garden is in the works.

“We’re envisioning people coming out here and having some tea,” said Dr. Sean Marcella, a chiropractor at the healthcare facility.

Chiropractic Lifestyle Center opened for business May 27. Marcella described it as an exciting day. He said he, Meg and Ron snapped photos of the facility’s first patients to mark the occasion and things have gone smoothly so far.

Meg said she was “thrilled” to finally open the facility. The couple previously owned Simans Chiropractic, located directly in front of the Chiropractic Lifestyle Center, for years, but when the building’s lease ran out, they decided to chase their dream and build the natural healthcare facility.

The Simans first met with an architect in March 2006 and construction on the natural healthcare facility began in September of that year. Nearly two years later, the Chiropractic Lifestyle Center finally opened for business.

Various supporters of the Chiropractic Lifestyle Center ranging from the couple’s two sons to Tim Ryan Construction employees, who worked on the building, attended last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“And the sun came out for us. That’s pretty cool,” Meg said of the ceremony.

Brown also attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony to show his support for the new business. Ron said Brown played a role in the creation of the natural healthcare facility by helping the Simans get permits for the building.

“I’m pleased to play a very small part in the culmination of you, your wife and your family’s dream,” Brown said.

The Chiropractic Lifestyle Center was awarded a three-star rating, the highest possible, under Kitsap County’s Built-Green guidelines. The facility is made of sustainable and non-toxic materials including formaldehyde-free insulation, paints and adhesives containing no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Bamboo and other natural flooring products also were used and the center is using solar hot water collectors and photovoltaic electric panels to generate its own electricity.

“This is an amazing building,” Brown said.
