Greg Meakin, the developer who built the Bremerton Ice Arena six years ago, plans to open a new ice rink in North Kitsap by 2011.

Meakin, who lost the Bremerton facility after filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2003, hopes to implement a different funding model for the new, $6.5 million rink.

“This time around, regular folks will be able to buy stock in the rink,” he wrote in a news release.

The new arena would have 2,000 seats. Meakin plans to use it to develop a new women’s hockey league.
