Look for some new changes at the Fred Meyer store in Port Orchard later this year.
Fred Meyer recently announced it will invest $200 million to expand and remodel stores in Washington, along with Oregon, Idaho and Alaska this year.
Axel Strakeljahn, store director of the Port Orchard location, said his store is looking at a “full-scale” renovation.
“There is going to be lots of remodeling throughout the store,” said Strakeljahn. “Our store will receive a more modernized look with the remodeling.”
Strakeljahn said the renovation will begin in April with completion slated in November.
President Lynn Gust said there are no plans to open new stores in 2013.
Fred Meyer, the Portland-based grocery company holding of Cincinnati-based Kroger Corp., operates 133 stores in four western states, including stores in Bremerton and Gig Harbor. There are more than 45 stores in Washington.
The Port Orchard store is located at 1900 Southeast Sedgwick Road.
