POULSBO — Kelcee Chorba, an employee of Wendy’s, must have been busy April 2. Not with orders, but greetings.
Chorba, one of two employees to dress up for the grand opening of Wendy’s newest Poulsbo location, was kept waving and smiling on the sidewalk and inside the restaurant as guests flooded in. District manager Jim Helfrick, who was on-location through the day, could not estimate how many guests the new fast-food business served by mid-afternoon.
“Oh my gosh,” he said. “I don’t know exactly.” However, he estimated the count at a few hundred.
Wendy’s, which was originally scheduled to open March 26, consistently had people stopping by asking when the restaurant would open, Helfrick said. Business is going well.
“It’s been going great … Going real, real well,” he said. “It’s been non-stop all day.”
Those who visited Wendy’s were offered a free Frosty.
The new location, at College Marketplace — across the street from Wal Mart — hired 40 full- and part-time employees to staff. It is open 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week.
