Steel City Café lovers can now grab a tasty meal in Silverdale.
Steel City Café, a known establishment on Sixth Street in downtown Bremerton, opened for business a few weeks ago in the Kitsap Mall food court.
“There was an open spot. McDonald’s moved out, so we had an opportunity to move in,” said Harold Ziegler, owner of Steel City Café.
Ziegler bought Steel City Café in February and wanted to open a second location. A spot opened up at Kitsap Mall and Ziegler jumped on the chance to set up shop inside the Silverdale mall.
Steel City Café offers various deli sandwiches, wraps, hamburgers, salads and even espresso. Steel City Café in Bremerton sells homemade pastries and Ziegler recently brought the tasty treats to the Kitsap Mall location.
“We brought our pastries up from Bremerton and they’re doing well,” Ziegler said.
Another hot item at Steel City Café – smoothies.
“Smoothies go really good. They’ve been selling like hot cakes,” Ziegler said.
Ziegler said he wasn’t sure what to expect when he opened the Kitsap Mall location, but things are looking up.
“It’s been really good,” Ziegler said. “We thought it’d (business) drop down, but it’s been really good.”
Steel City Café in Bremerton has pool tables, wireless Internet, checkers and chess boards available for people to check out while enjoying a meal.
Ziegler said if a space becomes available, he would like to open up a sit-down version of Steel City Café inside Kitsap Mall.
Ziegler works full-time at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and owns a tree trimming business, Zigs Tree Service. He is looking to hire more staff for both the Bremerton and Kitsap Mall locations, including a manager.
“I got to have a good staff,” Ziegler said.
