Debbie Macomber’s The Grey House Cafe celebrated the unveiling this week of Lisa Stirrett’s newest glass art installation, a stunning 4-foot-diameter fused glass sign that hangs above the entrance to the newly remodeled business.
Community members joined together to celebrate Stirrett’s art and The Grey House Cafe’s new look and new menu. But perhaps the real story is how two strong, successful and creative local women “accidentally” came together after walking separate paths to achieve similar missions here and in Africa!
“My mission in life,” Macomber said, “is to be a blessing. One of the ways I’ve chosen to do that is through my work with World Vision to educate young girls in Africa and around the world, and to support women in my own community.
“I was delighted to learn that Lisa is also blessing others, not only through her beautiful art, but also through her dedication to supporting women here and around the world.”
“Our mission,” Stirrett said, “is to create stunning works of art that impact and inspire. We want to be a globally recognized art brand that empowers women.” Stirrett supports several local charities that impact and empower women, as well as one in West Africa.
“Our Pay It Forward loan program has funded over 20 woman-owned small businesses in Burkina Faso so far,” she said. “When Debbie Macomber’s team asked me to help create their new sign, I couldn’t have been more excited to learn how closely our missions aligned. Of course, we wanted to work together!”
The celebration at The Grey House Cafe will continue Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5. On Sunday, the restaurant will feature a breakfast buffet from 9-11 a.m. The buffet will cost $7.95 for adults and $5.95 for children, with mimosas priced at $5. The community is invited to take advantage of specials, a customer appreciation menu with discounted pricing and the chance to win a selection of raffle prizes, organizers said.
Also on March 4-5 as part of Customer Appreciation Weekend, children 12 and younger eat free with a purchase of an adult entree per youngster. The special excludes the buffet on Sunday.
