Published newspaper accounts report five Democrat candidates are vying for retiring North Kitsap Commissioner Steve Bauer’s position.
One of these candidates is Clanrence Moriwaki of Bainbridge Island, a long-standing activist and lobbyist for his special-interest agenda and $9 million Bainbridge monument.
During Moriwaki’s lobbyist campaign, he secured vast sums of public monies, public employee support and special access from COBI, Kitsap County, Olympia and Washington, D.C.
For those unfamiliar with Moriwaki, a simple Google search will flesh out lobbying special interest details.
The Washington State Constitution places the final selection of Bauer’s replacement with Kitsap- County elected Democrat precinct committee officers (PCOs).
However, the 240,000 residents, the Democrat, Republican, independent and non-political of Kitsap County deserve an interim commissioner without ties of conflict or favoritism.
Kitsap’s 2010 November elections reveal a clarion call for fair leadership. It is an incontrovertible fact that character counts.
