It is quite common for the Progressive Liberal Democrats to expend huge dollars on key elections. Currently, the election in Virginia for governor and the election for 26th Legislative District senator are key for the Progressive Liberal Democrats.
The tactics they use are to spend huge sums of money in PAC attack ads on TV and mailers. These attack ads either distort the truth or are out and out lies.
How do they get all this money for these attack ads? I don’t know but I have a suspicion and hope the newspapers will do some investigative journalism on this.
In Washington, our governor has a talk with a rich hedge fund investor, Tom Steyer, from California who makes his money from oil and gas investments. Not too long after this meeting it happens that the billionaire starts up a multimillion dollar PAC fund that supports other PACs for attack ads in the 26th Legislative District senate race. Then follows the removal of transportation of oil permits to Washington ports with a requirement that the companies have a new hurdle to pass to get permitted.
This could have an effect on oil prices and therefore how much Tom Steyer makes on his hedge fund.
Is this proper business for our political people? I think not.
