Most of us look forward to the holiday season, anticipating the delicious food and the festive spirit of giving and receiving. But for many local families, the holidays can be very stressful. When you’re barely able to make ends meet, the additional cost of holiday meals and gifts can be out of reach.
That’s why Fishline and other helping agencies are so busy this time of year — we try to bridge this gap by providing turkey meals, Christmas hams, and gifts for the children. With the help of local churches, we distributed Thanksgiving meals to more than 400 households this year, and we expect to bring Christmas joy to hundreds of children through our Christmas gift programs.
Our community, generous all year, steps it up even more so during the holidays. Our shelves are brimming because of so many food drives, our freezer was full of turkeys and, even while we were distributing turkey baskets, more was coming in. We are blessed and very thankful that so many come together to make sure all have enough.
Thanksgiving is now a sweet memory, and we ask for your support with Christmas hams and the fixings.
Our thanks to our community, which has stood beside us and responded to our calls for help. May you all have the most beautiful and peaceful of holidays knowing that you have made it possible for struggling neighbors to enjoy them as well.
