On Friday, Aug. 26, while walking my dog on Benchmark Road in Sterling Highlands in Hansville, I noticed a Kitsap County truck spraying a herbicide on the side of the road.
I would like the county to explain the reason(s) for the spraying. It was in an area where no one lives. It is where families walk and people walk there dogs. I noticed in the North Kitsap Herald the very next day a picture of Hansville Coaster Games; people were sitting in the grass on the side of the road that was sprayed the day before.
What I would like explained to me is why they are spraying. No one lives or is likely to live in that area. The vegetation growing does no harm; the spraying of poison does. The runoff ends up in the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. That might be part of reason for fish kill in the Hood Canal.
It would be nice if other people that find the spraying unnecessary and harmful would express this to the proper county authorities.
