Join the Kingston volunteers
Not so many years ago if one were to describe Kingston to someone who has never been here they might say it’s a ferry stop on the way to the Olympic Peninsula, and hopefully the lovely Apple Tree Cove would be referenced.
Well, there is a whole lot more to describe Kingston now, and the changes are due to dedicated local residents wishing to be part of the decisions in what kind of town Kingston can be. It is the volunteers that commit hours, weeks, even years to make this little town of Kingston a thriving and pleasant place to live.
The Kingston Community Beautification Committee is just one such collection of residents that channeled their passion for Kingston into helping keep our town clean, provide seasonal decorations, help with community events and other efforts. You have probably seen the folks with filled trash bags working on the side of State Route 104 and West Kingston Road. These are dedicated Kingston Volunteers.
Over the winter holidays the light poles are decorated, not by North Pole elves, but again by Kingston Volunteers. In the summer months the gorgeous hanging baskets need to be watered every single day, again by an all volunteer crew.
Kingston volunteers are an enthusiastic and fun group of folks that would love to have members of the community become involved with activities around town. There is something fun and interesting for all ages to help with no experience necessary. For students to fulfill their needed community service graduation requirements too.
This is your official invitation to join the Kingston volunteers. We are actively recruiting new members for our Beautification Committees as well. Look for our new Kingston Volunteers signs when our volunteers are out. Honk and say “Thanks!” Or, better yet, stop and give a hand.
Call the Kingston Chamber of Commerce at (360) 297-3813 to hear of all volunteer opportunities that are available.
