Dear Families,
On Oct. 14, our student body leaders sponsored and led a powerful assembly geared toward building greater levels of empathy in our students.
We are a proud community here at Kingston Middle School, and this is one example of our students taking the lead in promoting a positive school culture. We all have faced challenges in our lives, and as our students grow it is important for us to continue to reinforce these essential core values of respect and acceptance.
Following the assembly, we could feel a difference in our halls as the students and staff spent time reflecting together on what it means to be empathetic and what we all can do on an individual level to continually build a positive educational community in which all students can be welcomed.
As partners in your students’ education, we encourage you to spend time talking to your children this weekend about the assembly, perhaps tonight at dinner or during another quality family time that you have together. Ask your children about what they saw and heard. Let them share what they learned about the empathy continuum and explore what commitments they can make as active and supportive members of our community.
Together we can make a difference.
