Letter: Clean energy will benefit all

Leonardo DiCaprio, in his acceptance speech, said “Climate change is real.” More and more climate scientists are giving examples of how people in the U.S. costal areas have already suffered from rising sea levels that are causing floods and unsafe drinking water.

Leonardo DiCaprio, in his acceptance speech, said “Climate change is real.” More and more climate scientists are giving examples of how people in the U.S. costal areas have already suffered from rising sea levels that are causing floods and unsafe drinking water.

Yet, people in the U.S. are slower than other countries in believing that climate change is real. David and Charles Koch are financially supporting political candidates who oppose actions on climate change. I find it scary that Republican leaders are standing in the way of slowing climate change. Bill Gates is spearheading a group of millionaires to take the risk of investing in technology to perfect clean energy sources. For example, they will look for greater storage abilities for wind and solar power.

Clean energy production should become a profitable industry that will overtake others that are helping to cause climate change. Our economy, too, will benefit. Most of us are not millionaires, but together we can each do our part in slowing climate change.

Also, we need to vote for candidates that will help us slow climate change, not stand in the way. More lives will be lost before more are convinced and solutions that are working are in place. Solutions will take time to have an effect. Urgent positive action is a must.
