on SR 3 is right on

Dear Editor,

Many kudos to Val Torrens for her Jan. 12 column regarding the certainty of a fatal accident occurring at the new completely bungled intersection of Rt 3, Waaga Way and Clear Creek Road near Silverdale (known to some of us already as “WSDOT SNAFU Junction”).

The four points she cited were indeed right on. I am thinking that space limitations kept her from also writing about three other problems there — driving it at night, the maze/poor quality of lane striping and the confusing signage.

Perhaps a follow-on column is in order.

Thanks for keeping up the drumbeat of criticism. Perhaps some official will take note and do something about this fiasco before the funeral.

Poulsbo’s hungry for breakfast

Dear Editor,

Poulsbo has been waiting for the new restaurant to open for over a year and they’re not even going to serve breakfast?

That is when my husband and I go the most is to eat breakfast. I think you will find out that is when a lot of people go.

The lunch crowd will be big cause of the workers.

missing the boat

Dear Editor,

I’m sure that big restaurant corporations have a research team that looks into the needs of a communtity.

Whoever did the research in Poulsbo really missed the boat. Everyone I know was looking forward with such excitement and anticipation for the new ‘breakfast’ place to open.

I’m sure it will be nice to have a place to go and enjoy a good steak but I’m also sure there are a lot of people who make that a special occasion or when company comes to town.

But breakfast is our favorite meal and we have been going as far away as Chimacum, Bainbridge Island, Port Townsend and Port Gamble to find a good breakfast!

Hopefully they will reconsider and give the people of Poulsbo what they really want … BREAKFAST!

We might give it a try for lunch but I buy our filet steaks at Costco and they are delicious.

Along with a little candle light and a good bottle of wine our steaks taste fabulous and it doesn’t cost us a fortune!! I hope they rethink their decision!!

Centennial event

Thank you for

making inaugural event a success

Dear Editor,

Last weekend’s Centennial inaugural event successfully kicked off this wonderful year of celebrations.

A huge thank you to the public for its awesome attendance at both the daytime and evening events hosted last Saturday by the Poulsbo Historical Society.

The Centennial committee has been in full-force planning mode since last April, and the success of this event is greatly attributed to their hard work and dedication.

Sincere gratitude must be sent out to the Sons of Norway Lodge for their hospitality and gracious support by the Ladies Club and the Leikarringen dancers who offered guests that great taste of Little Norway.

Tom Hall and Central Market staff did a remarkable job catering the evening gala event. Delicious food and unforgettable wine surely mark the memories for many.

Heartfelt thanks to the Poulsbo Historical Society and Erica Varga who led a team of society members to create those extraordinary and informative historical interactive displays placed throughout the Sons of Norway Lodge.

“Mange takk” to Boxlight Corporation for providing all the digital media equipment and installations.

The Historical Society’s deep involvement over the past eight months truly shone through these amazing displays and underscores the need for a permanent museum.

Thank you to all North Kitsap High School students, who wrote and performed an intelligent and entertaining play depicting our first city council meeting in 1908.

The Cloverblossom band and the Johnny and Bonnie Trio also provided musical entertainment during the event.

Many thanks to the Centennial Committee and city hall staff who volunteered their time working so hard to pull all these details together and bring such a wonderful event to life.

And finally, thank you to each and every one of our Centennial Sponsors. Without you none of this magical experience would have been possible.
