Non-traditional marriage and church/state separation

To the editor:

Here is what I think.

The marriage ceremony says that  marriage is an act ordained by God.

American law calls for the separation of Church and State.

All who are legally married in the U. S, also have a civil union (That’s when the Bride, Groom, and the Preacher go in the back room and sign papers).

So, those in a non-traditional relationship should do the following:

• Go before a Judge and get a civil union.

• Go to a religious organization that will marry them, and get married.

That way, they are civilly united satisfying the State, and are married in the eyes of the religious organization that married them.

And those organizations that do not believe in non-traditional marriage, do not have to compromise their principles.

With Christian conservative side on marriage issue

To the editor:

Comments re: “Procreation, parenting in peril? Um,…no.” So you read on various websites about the Legislature passing a bill to make same sex marriage legal. What websites? Or was it just the Associated Press?

Sir, where do you cross the line on the marriage issue? I for one am with the Christian conservative side. Marriage is between one man and one woman. So, I guess that makes me a bigot.

I think if you read your Bible more you see Jesus as a bigot, since He preached against homosexuality, bisexuality, ect…  Think Sodom and Gamorrah!
