NK Fishline still in need

The year is almost over and once again our incredible North Kitsap neighbors saw to it that our NK Fishline clients were kept warm, sheltered and had enough to eat. We were even able to start a new program, Food-for-Thought, that provides weekend meals for children who might not otherwise have them. This year through November, because of your generosity, Fishline was able to put food in the mouths of over 19,500 families — we fed people more than 56,000 times — an additional 30 percent over 2008 when we served approximately 14,000 families.

Whenever there is a need at Fishline, our community has come through, even when things were tight at home. This year, our needs have been met, but the monetary donations received from this November through January are what keep us moving ahead during the first quarter of the new year. Currently we are over $30,000 behind last year’s donations for the months of November and December with an increase of over 30 percent in clients. We expect that the number of new clients will continue to rise at that rate or more during 2010.

You have always provided both financial and emotional support for those that walk through the doors at NK Fishline. You have given from your heart as well as your checkbook. It is my belief that you will continue to do as much as you can, when you can and that you will keep Fishline clients in your thoughts and prayers as you have for so many years.

From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of our Fishline clients, I want to thank you for all that you do and to wish you a kind and gentle new year.
