Although I retired from the North Kitsap High School three years ago I stay in touch and I am concerned that some people feel that they cannot afford to vote for the upcoming school levy. If we consider the consequences of not having a good school system, it seems obvious that we cannot afford to vote against the levy.
Some critics consider the way we pay for educating our children archaic at best, and they are right.
But only Olympia can make changes. Some critics have problems with programs or people employed by the school district, and they need to be heard.
However, on the whole, North Kitsap has a very good school district and the students and employees deserve the support of everybody. It is the responsible thing to vote yes.
