I am the mother of four and the grandmother of four grandchildren. Most of our yearly purchases of clothing have been at our local Goodwill or community thrift shops for many years.

With a single income, it would have been nearly impossible to shop the malls and higher-end retail markets to clothe all of my children. I have noticed in the past year the sky rocketing of Goodwill’s prices. I found a pair of nice boots the other day and they wanted 49.99 for them. Are you kidding me?

I find quite the crowd in Goodwill now, so I think they are catching on to the great deals Goodwill can provide. But I think Goodwill is getting a big head about it. How on earth can they charge such huge prices on items that are “gifted” to them? I understand they help with job placement and etc, but they are hurting the people they are supposed to be helping. Goodwill towards man — isn’t that what that stands for? Do you honestly think $49.99 for a used pair of boots can be justified? Most shoes are $12.99 and up, what happened to $4.99?

Goodwill, you are becoming very greedy and you should be ashamed of yourself! Remember the little people that have been patronizing your business for years. Most people do not have $49.99 for a used pair of boots that is why they are in Goodwill to begin with.
