Letters of opinion have a place in the North Kitsap Herald but you do readers a disservice when you print false statements without a comment, correction or disclaimer.

There is no “dirty little secret” to raise taxes on the “poorest Americans” as stated in Don Wein’s letter of Sept. 9.

In fact, Patty Murray, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi support President Barack Obama’s proposal to extend tax cuts to all but the wealthiest 2 to 3 percent of Americans. This has been reported regularly by responsible news media and is consistent with Obama’s campaign pledge.

Please don’t play a part in campaigns to frighten and mislead the public.
